Anchorage Museum of History and Art

The art, history and cultures of Alaska are showcased at the Anchorage Museum of History and Art, the largest museum in Alaska. The Alaska Gallery includes artifacts from prehistoric times to the present, including European and Russian influences. Aleut, Eskimo, and Indian native cultures also are featured here.

The state's history is depicted in various exhibits, including "Art of the Far North." Summer films, a children's gallery and more than 20 traveling exhibits also are featured. Six connecting galleries on the main floor display work by Alaska artists.

This is one of the most visited attractions in Anchorage. There is a museum shop and cafe, plus a reference library and archives. Reduced hours in winter. Admission is charged.
