Bettles is located in Yukon-Koyukuk Census Area northwest of Fairbanks between Wiseman & Allakaket on the banks of the John River near the Noatak National Preserve. Bettles is situated on the northern border of the Kanuti National Wildlife Refuge. Bettles offers some of the finest northern lights viewing in Alaska. According to the National Weather Service, Bettles has the most cloud-free days of any spot in Alaska.
