Native artifacts and cultures are contrasted with European exploration, which began with Vitus Bering, who claimed Alaska for Russia in 1741. Other exhibits depict mining and railroading in the town's development. Original work by Alaskan artists Sydney Laurence, Eustace Ziegler and Jules Dahlager, all of whom worked in Cordova, are displayed. Exhibitions, programs, publications, and other activities are offered. The Cordova Historical Society operates a small gift shop featuring books of local interest.

Each spring, as many as five million shorebirds rest and feed at the tidal flats of the Copper River Delta during spring migration. The Copper River Delta Shorebird Festival provides the opportunity for bird watchers to be part of this incredible migration. The festival includes many activities, workshops, and community events.
