El Capitan Cave

El Capitan Cave is the largest cave in Alaska, and features the deepest limestone pit in the United States. Tours of the cave are provided by the Tongass National Forest. Bear bones in the caves have been dated to over 12,000 years ago.

A gate controls visits to inside the cave. Tours depart several times daily from mid-May to September.

The caves are located on Prince of Wales Island.
