Golovin was named for Captain Vasili Golovin of the Russian Navy. The town is on the Seward Peninsula, 70 miles east of Nome. Golovin is an Eskimo village with a herding, fishing, and subsistence lifestyle. Access to Golovin is limited to air and sea.
