Kenai River

This famous fishing river originates in the Kenai Mtns. It is one of the best-known fishing areas in the state, famous for its salmon and trout.

Fishing regulations and closures differ throughout the area, so fishermen should check local current information. The upper Kenai River is joined by the Russian River and it then flows into Skilak Lake.

The river flows westward past the towns of Soldotna and Kenai before it empties into Cook Inlet. The Sterling Hwy provides access to the area.
