Nome, and just 40 miles from Siberia. On a clear day, residents and visitors can see the mountains of Siberia.
Gambell is the primary settlement on St. Lawrence Island, and is home to Siberian Eskimos who have lived on the island for centuries. The village of Savoonga offers limited lodging on the island.
