Established in 1836 the city Cedar Bluff has been part of a rich history of the Civil War, stable working opportunities, and higher education. The city is located in Cherokee County (North Region), where the population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 1,463.


During the Civil War, the Cornwall Furnace was used to construct almost all of the Confederate cannons. The furnace was the first to be built at an astounding 35 feet tall.
