The school system in the area includes the Shelby County High School, and surrounding secondary schools. The city prides itself in the education standards set by the excellent teachers.
The Smith-Harrison Museum has an extensive collection of George Washington/Martha Custiss Washington articles. It is housed in the same building with the Harrison Regional Library (servicing all of Shelby County) and the Columbiana City Library, both places where students could do research about a variety of topics.
The city also prides itself in a very responsive fire and police department that will serve and protect residents and visitors in the area.
