Near the Lewis Smith Lake, Dora is located in Walker County (North Region), 35 miles NW of Birmingham along Highway 81.


The city is home to the Alabama Mining Museum where mining took place for years in the past and now it is a museum to show what was done in our history. The Dora Public Library is also a wonderful place to find materials on information about the cities history and a great place to find information on any subject.
The Horse Creek Golf Course is an amazing place to spend the day on land while the Walker County Public Lake is a great place for many fishermen and boater. The lake provides many opportunities for fishing many types of fish with local shops in the area for all the gear you need.
