Named for a city in Italy, Florence is located in Lauderdale County (North Region), on the banks of the Tennessee River near the Joe Wheeler State Park which places it in the Florence, Alabama metro area.
The city is rich with museums and historical buildings including the Rosenbaum House, Indian Mound Museum, W.C. Handy Home, Museum and Library, Pope's Tavern Museum, and the Stanley and Mildred Rosenbaum House.
