On the edge of the Alabama border, Fort Mitchell is located in
Russell County (
Central Region), along Highway 165 on the banks of the Chattahoochie River putting it in the
Columbus, Georgia-Alabama metro area.
The city has much pride in its rich history including the Chattahoochee Indian Heritage Center and the Fort Mitchell National Cemetery. These are memorials to those of the past in Alabama.
