Guntersville is located in Marshall County (North Region), by Guntersville Lake along Highway 431 near Guntersville Dam.


This location of the city is in northeast Alabama on Hwy 431, with Guntersville being 70 miles northeast of Birmingham and 40 miles south of Huntsville.
On Alabama's largest lake, Guntersville Lake and Dam with its 950 mile shoreline, Guntersville is a recreation bonanza. The city is renowned to anglers for its bass fishing and for hosting various fishing tournaments year-round. Water sports include skiing, boating, jetskiing and sailing with several privately owned marinas.
Another attraction to the area is the Guntersville Museum and Cultural Center where information and facts about the city and surrounding areas can be found.
