Named for Revolutionary War Gen. Francis Marion, this small community is located south of
Birmingham on Highway 5, just outside the Talldega National Forest. Marion is located in
Perry County.
The school system in Marion provides higher education to all students at the Judson College, Marion Military Institute.
The college is also home to the historic Alabama Military Hall of Honor. With many historic places including the Military Hall of Honor, Lincoln Museum, Marion Female Seminary, the Perry Lakes Park Sanctuary / Barton's Beach Cahaba River Preserve, Lewis Home, and the Carlisle Hall, these are excellent places to visit.
