Parkway Medical Center Hospital |
Parkway Medical Center was founded as the Baugh Clinic in the early 1920's by Dr. W. P. Baugh. As new physicians joined the medical staff, the clinic grew to become the Baugh, Wiley, Smith Hospital.
In 1969, the Baugh, Wiley, Smith Hospital was purchased by Hospital Affiliates in Nashville, Tennessee. Immediately, plans were made to relocate the hospital and increase its medical service capabilities. A site was chosen in the "hub" of Decatur's growth area along the Beltline, the present-day location of Parkway Medical Center.
In 1972, construction began and two years later, Parkway Medical Center opened its doors. Since its construction on the Beltline, Parkway Medical Center has been an important contributor to Southwest Decatur's business and residential growth. Since 1994, Parkway Medical Center has been an affiliate hospital of Community Health Systems, Inc.
