Established in 1888, Nauvoo is located in Walker County ( North Region), 28 miles northwest of Jasper along Highway 11 near William Bankhead National Forest.
One of the main historic sites is the William Cook House and the Nauvoo Depot Museum, providing much information and rich history of the area. Items include tools from the train station, local industry, and pictures.
With the construction of the Northern Alabama Railway in the early days of the city, it helped with the growth of population and visitors to the area. The area is still a wonderful place to visit and see the sights.
