Its like a giant space platform where the celestial bodies seem almost within reach. Built in 1964 through a grant from the Meyer Foundation, its star shows attract more than 15,000 visitors annually. Special programs are open to tourists, organized groups, and school children. Meyer Planetarium was the first public planetarium built in Alabama. Its Spitz A-3P star projector has the capability of producing hundreds of images.
