Named for the wife of postmaster Clark J. DeWitt, Saraland is located in
Mobile County (
Gulf Coast Region) where the population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 12,976, an increase of 1,192 since 1990.
The city is full of a rich history including being part of a Spanish land grand to Don Diago Alvarez. One of the local historic sites is the Saraland Historical Museum showing some of the artifacts from the past of the area.
