Sterrett is located in Shelby County (Central Region), placing it as part of the Birmingham, Alabama metro area.

Some of the local attractions in the area are the Bob Saunders Family Covered Bridge, and the Logan Martin Lake. The lake is a wonderful place to spend a day boating or fishing with many local shops in the area for all water activiites.
The Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum is an excellent place to see the past cars of the nation. The museum is also a great place to see the history of race cars.
