Vernon is located in
Lamar County (
North Region), 20 miles West of Fayette between Fayette and and the Mississippi state line along Highway 18.
One of the main attractions to the area is the Back Street Opry. This is a wonderful place to visit while passing though the area.
The main historic building in the city is the Vernon City Museum. It is full of history from the past of the area and the heart of the city.
