Both Union and Confederate troops used this 1853 home as headquarters during the Civil War. This stately white mansion with its Revival-style columns was built in 1853 by Judge Jonas Tibits and is one of the city’s oldest residences. Headquarters House fell under the command of both Union and Confederate forces several times during the War Between the States, thus earning its name. The home has been restored to its original garndeur with Civil War artifacts and stately period landscaping.
