West Memphis

West Memphis is located in Crittenden County east of Forrest City between Lehi and Memphis, Tennessee along I-40 on the banks of the Mississippi River near the Tennessee and Mississippi boarder.

The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 26,581, a decrease of 1,678 since 1990.

West Memphis is part of the Memphis, Tennessee-Arkansas-Mississippi metro area.

Southland Greyhound Park at West Memphis reigns as the only greyhound racing facility in the Mid-South, attracting top purses and some of the premier racing greyhounds in the world. Old river lakes and bayous around West Memphis offer good fishing. Duck hunting is excellent here during fall and winter seasons. Horseshoe Lake has a full-service marina and recreational boating. Another popular lake is situated within the Wapanocca National Wildlife Refuge.
