Wickes is located in
Polk County south of
Fort Smith between
Mena and
DeQueen along Hwy 71, near the Little Missouri River and the Oklahoma boarder.
Tradition says the community was named after a peddler who came through town, shouting, Wicks, wicks for sale!
Cossatot River State Park is a popular attraction for many within the town of Wickes.
