Dragoon is located between Benson and Willcox along Interstate 10 near the
Coronado National Forest.
The small town of Dragoon is located southeast of Tucson and lies in the Dragoon Mountains.
The Dragoon Mountains rise out of the sagebrush plain. The Dragoons lack the altitude of the other sky islands; the highest peak reaches 7,519 feet. The upper reaches of the range don't quite achieve the "alpine" environment of the mountains. The Dragoons are a maze of granite spires and crevices.
