Hot Well Dunes Recreation Area SAND, SUN, WATER & FUN

The sands at the Hot Well Dunes Recreation Area were a beach surrounding a lake approximately 2 million years ago. Today, the site offers one of the most unique recreation spots in Arizona where visitors can ride in sand dunes, fish, and soak in relaxing hot tubs at the same location. Facilities include two hot tubs, ten tent and RV camping units, fire grills, and vault toilets. A daily fee is charged for use.

The Hot Well Dunes Recreation Area is located 35 miles from Safford; 25 of those miles are gravel road. The area is generally accessible by all types of vehicles but the road can get rough, so be prepared to take it slow. No electricity, drinking water or phones are available. Firewood availability is limited.
