Founded in 1963, today Banner Mesa Medical Center is a 166-bed, full service community hospital in downtown Mesa. Emergency medicine, labor and delivery, medical/surgical services and oncology care are primary offerings at the facility. Specialty care includes the John J. Rhodes Rehabilitation Institute, Center for Women's Health, Generations behavioral health unit, and an array of complementary medical services. Phoenix-based Banner Health System will spend nearly $7 million on additional technology and renovation activities at Banner Mesa Medical Center in 2002. This investment comes following a $2.5 million hospital-wide face-lift project in 2001. A major portion of the 2002 funds will be used to expand capabilities in the Diagnostic Imaging Center. Plans call for a new CT scanner, a new MRI and new X-ray equipment.
