Mt. Lemmon Ski Valley

in the Coronado National Forest

Just one hour from the desert sun of Tucson lies the southernmost ski area in the United States near the summit of Mt. Lemmon. The 70-acre Ski Valley offers great downhill skiing and snowboarding, along with ski equipment rentals and instruction, a restaurant,a snack bar, and a gift shop. Overnight accomodations can be found nearby at Summerhaven. The chair lift operates year-round, taking visitors to a high overlook from which outstanding views of the Santa Catalinas, Tucson, the San Pedro Valley, and the distant mountains near Globe and Phoenix can be had. This, plus the area's many trails and overlooks make Ski Valley a popular destination in any season. Ski runs are usually open mid-December to early April depending on snowfall. Other facilities include 15 ski trails with beginner, intermediate and advanced runs. The highway is paved and suitable for passenger vehicles.
