Tuzigoot National Monument |
About 2 miles northwest of Cottonwood, Tuzigoot National Monument preserves the ruins of a pueblo that was occupied by the Sinagua Indians from about 1000 until it was abandoned in 1425. From more than 110 rooms archaeologists have recovered stone and bone tools, textiles, pottery, shell beads and braclets, which are displayed in the visitors center.
The center is open daily from 8:00 a.m. until 7 p.m., Memorial Day through Labor Day. The center is open the rest of the year from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Admission is just $2.00 and thouse under 17 are admitted for free.
