Embarking from the spectacular Virgin River Gorge south of St. George, Utah, visitors can follow 277 miles of the only paved roads in the Arizona Strip region through its small rural communities.
Full services and accommodations are offered along all routes. The Vermilion Cliffs Highways provide a combination of 21 interpretive sites or scenic overlooks along 277 miles of state highways in northern Arizona and southern Utah. The roads generally follow the winding ramparts of the beautiful Vermilion Cliffs that are traceable from the Gunlock Reservoir to Tuba City and are historic transportation routes that were used for centuries.
