Youngtown is located in Central Arizona. The town is 15 miles west of downtown Phoenix in the West Valley.

Youngtown is a stable retirement community. It began in 1954 and is noted to be the first master planned retirement community in the nation. It was also the first community to impose age restrictions. However, those restrictions were lifted in 1998. Nevertheless, Youngtown will probably remain a retiree town.

Youngtown is a self-contained community with a man made lake, recreation hall, medical facilities and shopping. Most of the houses are small ranch style homes.
