Cape Scott Provincial Park
|---|
A rugged coastal rainforest on Cape Scott, the lonely northern tip of Vancouver Island, the area was first inhabited by the Kwakiutl. Violent wind and rainstorms defeated turn-of-the-century settlement attempts by hardy Danish pioneers. Now this area's sole inhabitants are seabirds and mammals, including deer, elk, bear, otter, cougar and wolves. Trails range in length from two to thirty kilometers and from a pleasant stroll to a challenging and demanding test of skill and stamina. The incessant rain results in muddy and difficult trail conditions, but the visual and emotional rewards, especially on a clear day, are beyond compare. Definitely a wilderness area. This is just one of hundreds of British Columbia Provincial Parks.
