The park is located at the head of the Cummins River, which drains southwest into the Kinbasket Reservoir. The park is nationally known as a place for mountaineering, ski-touring, and wilderness expeditions. Access is limited. There is helicopter access to an Alpine Club of Canada climbing hut and limited access by ski touring across Clemenceau Icefield from Jasper National Park.
