Marland Motel

Comments: My wife and I arrived at the Marland Motel, looking for a quiet night's sleep before catching the morning ferry. Some time after midnight we were startled awake by the thumping of heavy metal music and loud voices from some other unit in the building, continuing for hours, and reverberating through the structure. The owners could not have been unaware of this disturbance as their residence is right beside this building. Sleep was not possible. Since my touring motorcycle was parked outside and we could not know the relationship between these partiers and the management, we could not risk complaining and perhaps suffering retaliatory vandalism We could only conclude that the operators of the Marland Motel must value their long term tenants' business more than that of an overnight guest, but what kind of innkeeper is so obtuse as to assign such guest a room in a building that houses known partiers? When a motel accepts money for a nights rest they ought to provide it, or don't offer.
