Inside Passage |
Along the northwest coast of British Columbia, this 440 km (274 miles) waterway runs between Port Hardy on the north end of Vancouver Island and Prince Rupert on the northern mainland, and to Alaska from ports in America, Vancouver and Victoria. The narrow channels, protected from the open ocean, are traveled by ferries and cruise ships.
It is possible to sail almost the entire length of the coast without encountering ocean swells. The Queen of the North carries 750 passengers and 157 vehicles on a 15 hour voyage that comes dramatically close to virgin wilderness, breathtaking Coast Mountain scenery, and diverse wildlife in water and on land.
