The total area covered by the park is almost 200,000 hectares, or half a million acres. This virtually undisturbed area will help maintain the viability and diversity of one of the largest ntact ecosystems in southeast BC. The east
Purcell Mountains area contains high mountains, alpine lakes, grasslands and major populations of elk, as well as habitat for grizzly bear and mountain bear, moose, and pileated woodpecker.
