Home to Upper Campbell Lake, Buttle Lake and
Strathcona Park Lodge (an outdoor experience center), the park offers a varied assortment of improved hiking trails and camping sites. Traveling north on Highway 28, it's located between the towns of
Campbell River and
Gold River. The largest park on
Vancouver Island, it contains the highest waterfalls in Canada, and the highest mountain on the Island. Though Buttle Lake and Forbidden Plateau have some developments for visitors, most of the park is a remote and truly magnificent wilderness. It offers alpine floweres, mountain peaks for all levels of climbing expertise, fishing for trout in the lakes, swimming in the summer and Nordic skiing in the winter, and abundant birds and wildlife.
This is just one of hundreds of British Columbia Provincial Parks.
