Yoho National Park

Located near the southeastern border of British Columbia along the western slopes of the Continental Divide, Yoho is one of four Rocky Mountain parks jointly declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1984. It is the home of the internationally famous Burgess Shale Fossils. Summer weather, from mid-June to mid-September offers average high temperatures of 20 C, and lows of 5 C. Above 1500 metres, freezing temps and snow are not uncommon. The town of Field is located in the park, providing basic services: police, ambulance, volunteer fire-fighting, post office, restaurant, general store, pottery store and Greyhound bus. Accommodations can be found at Kicking Horse Lodge, or in Field. Emerald Lake and Takakkaw Falls: wheelchair access.
