Only a four hour drive from Vancouver, this region is known throughout the world for its lush orchards of fresh fruit, and its growing wine industry. This sunny location offers a vacation of water-skiing in Canada's warmest fresh water lake, Osoyoos Lake or water sliding at Kelowna, Westbank or Penticton. There are many local theme parks, such as Okanagan's Butterfly World and Kelowna's Flintstone Bedrock City. Watch for "Ogopogo", a distant relative of the Loch Ness Monster, in Okanagan Lake. Twenty of the province's 22 wineries are here, too. In Vaseux Lake Provincial Park is the "pocket desert".
