Aiseau-Presles is a commune of 11,000 just east of
Charleroi. The Abbey of Oignes in Aiseau-Presles was founded in 1192, flourished for several centuries, then torn apart during the French Revolution; all that is left today are the impressive ruins. The old church tower of Pont-de-Loop, built of limestone in the 11th century, now stands in the midst of a military cemetery.
Pont-de-Loup and Roselies are boroughs within the municipal district of Aiseau-Presles.
