Andenne is a commune of 24,000 located immediately east of the city of Namur. The Sambre River flows through it from west to east. A monastery at Andenne was founded by St. Begga in 690; a cathedral honoring her name, St. Begga's Collegiate Church, was built in the 18th century, replacing several other small churches. Andenne is famous for its pottery and ceramics; there is a museum dedicated to the craft, featuring artifacts from the second century forward.
Bonneville, Coutisse, Landenne, Maizeret, Nameche, Sclayn, Seilles, Thon, and Vezin are boroughs within the municipal district of Andenne.
