Deinze is a commune of 28,000 located 8 kilometers southwest of Gent. The Museum van Deinze en de Leiestreek features Flemish expressionist artwork of the Latem school. Architectural items of note include Ooidonk castle, dating from the 15th century and directly on the Leie River, and the Church of Our Lady, a building built and renovated over several centuries, with visible pieces dating back to the 1100s. The church has a large Carillon, and concerts take place regularly. The De Brielpoort concert hall attracts many popular music acts.
