Grimbergen, a commune of 33,000, is a suburb adjacent to the north side of
Brussels. The E40 roadway passes through from east to west. Grimbergens Abbey Basilica is a beautiful example of baroque architecture and decoration hosting a dozen works from the golden age of Flemish painting. Next door to the abbey is a Beer Museum. The nostalgically named Museum for Old Techniques focuses on the era of "Muscles, Water, and Wind."
Beigem, Humbeek, and Strombeek-Bever are boroughs within the municipal district of Grimbergen.
