Charleroi was once the world capital of glass production, with internationally renowned glass-blowing artisans, and plate glass manufacturing output volume equivalent to the entire United States. Hence, Charleroi is a fitting community for a Museum of Glass, documenting 5000 years of art, history, and glassmaking science and techniques.
