Muse de Zoologie Auguste Lameere - ULB

Search Brussels

The ULB Museum of Zoology presents the collections of eminent ULB professor Auguste Laneer (1864-1942). 3,000 specimens are displayed in 122 cases, laid out to illustrate the principles of evolution and the zoological systemic order. Fully preserved smaller specimens are complemented by skeletons of large mammals such as horses, elephants and giraffes. One of the museum's prized posessions is a perfectly intact Coelecanth, a rare primitive fish once thought to have gone extinct 65 million years ago, then rediscovered in 1938. The fauna of Belgium get their own section, naturally.
