Ninove, a commune of 35,000, lies on the
Dender River, 25 kilometers west of
Brussels. The principle tourist attraction in Ninove is the 16th century barouque cathedral, the Church of Our Lady, formerly part of the Abbey of St. Cornelius. Two ponderous stone gates of interest are the Abbey Gate and Cow's Gate, a town gate dating back to the 14th century. Beer lovers will wish to arrange a stop at the Slagmuylder brewery.
Appelterre-Eichem, Aspelare, Denderwindeke, Lieferinge, Meerbeke, Nederhasselt, Neigem, Okegem, Outer, Pollare, and Voorde are boroughs within the municipal district of Ninove.
