Antwerpen

Province

The province of Antwerpen (also called Antwerp) is named for its principal city, the second most populous in Belgium, and the second largest port in Europe (trailing only Rotterdam). As with most of northern Flanders, the topography of Antwerpen province is flat and veined with rivers, the most important of which is the Scheldt River, terminating at the port city of Antwerp. The second largest municipality in Antwerpen province is Mechelen, on the road to Brussels.
