Most of the facilities of the
ULG are located in a 730 hectare wooded area, the Domain du Sart Tilman, 5 kilometers south of Liege proper. Part of this campus is dedicated to an open-air sculpture garden. The first pieces put in were intended as decorative pieces to enhance the campus amphitheaters, and were installed in the 1960s -- well before the official creation of the Open Air Museum in 1977. Since then, the total number of works has grown to over 100, many of them composed with the Sart Tilman setting in mind from the start.
