Soignies is a town that was built up around an abbey founded by St. Vincent, who happens to have been the husband of St. Waudru, founder of the monastery at
Mons. As with Mons, the chief tourist attraction is the church dedicated to the town founder: In Soignes, this is the St. Vincent's Collgiate Church, begun in 965.
Casteau, Chaussee-Notre-Dame-Louvignies, Horrues, Naast, Neufvilles, Thieusies, and Zinnik are boroughs within the municipal district of Soignies.
