Ten Putte Abbey was founded on the site of a well into which, legend has it, the body Saint Godelieve was thrown after she was strangled by her estranged husbands henchmen in 1070. The well itself is preserved as a shrine. The abbey church is modern, built in 1962; it features an altarpiece from the 16th century depicting the saint.
