Wervik is a commune of 18,000 on the north bank of the
Scheldt River, where it leaves France and enters Belgium. Wervik used to be a tobacco-producting community; there is now a tobacco museum dedicated to this past heritage.
Geluwe (Gheluwe) is a borough within the municipal district of Wervik.
